What is a T1?
Written by: Brad Dudley - Sep 2, 2010
Very simply put, a T1 is a pair of copper wires, or fiber optic lines in some cases, run directly from your service providers central office to your location. A T1 can be voice, internet, or integrated. If it is being used for voice only it can carry 24 digital voice channels and is connected to your phone system. If it is an internet T1 it can carry 1.544Mbps and will be connected to your networks router. An integrated T1 can be split for voice and internet and connected to both. You can also get a fractional T1 which only has some of the channels active. Check for T1 Availability. |
