What is a T1? A T1 is a pair of copper wires, or fiber optic lines, run directly from your carriers central office location to your business. It can be used for internet, voice, or both. What is the speed of a T1 Line? The speed of a T1 line is 1.544 Mbps. What is the local loop? The loop or local loop charge is basically the amount you pay to have the T1 Circuit installed. This is done by the local phone company. What is the port charge? What is refered to as the port has two parts. They are the connection of the T1 to the internet or phone system, and the bandwidth used by the T1 Line. The port is billed by your T1 Provider. What if I need a dedicated circuit but can't afford a Full T1? Then what you need is a Fractional T1 Line. What is Fractional T1? A Fractional T1 is a t1 line that doesn't have all of the circuits turned on, or "lit". It costs less than a Full T1, because even though you pay the same loop charge as a full T1 Line, you save 10-15% on the port charges. What is a Bonded T1? A Bonded T1 is when you have more than one t1 circuit. Our providers can bond up to 8 t1 lines for a total bandwidth of up to 12Mbps. When Should I Switch from POTS Lines to a T1 Line? We sugguest switching to a T1 Line if you have more than 6 POTS lines, or 5 and business dsl. What if a T1 Line just isn't enough for my business? We can offer you any level of service you may need. When you fill out the quote request form, simply select the level of service you require. If you're not sure just pick something and one of our independant account specialists will contact you. They can tell you whether you need a T1, T3, DS3, OC3, etc... How often should I come back and get a new T1 Quote? We sugguest that you return at least every quarter to check our new prices.
