What's the Difference Between DSL Service and a T1 Internet Line Connection?Written by: Brad Dudley - Jul 23, 2008
Some people still think the difference between Dsl Service and a T1 Internet Connection is speed. Unfortunately they are wrong. The connection speed of a T1 is 1.5MBPS(Megabytes per second). The connection speed of dsl service varies, and can be as fast as 6MBPS. The biggest benefits of a T1 Internet Line are stability and consistancy. Your upload and download speeds are always 1.5MBPS. With dsl your upload speeds are usually much slower and not nearly as consistant. Dsl is a shared service, meaning if too many people in your area use it at once your connection will get slower. This means if you have employees running complicated applications they would be using their time much more effectively with a T1 Internet Line. They main advantage of dsl service is cost. Business dsl usually costs around $100 per month, compared to $300 and up for a T1.
